Linear Park
Seoul, South Korea
JXP developed a proposed design for a cover park in response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Seoul Metropolitan City and Nowon-Gu District. The project envisions a linear park atop an existing highway slated for coverage, reconnecting the urban fabric and restoring public access to the adjacent river. Our central concept introduces water into the park, where it serves dual purposes: as a dynamic programmatic element and an ecological system. This water is continuously circulated, purified on-site, and ultimately discharged back into the river. The park is organized into three distinct sections, each responsive to its specific urban context and endowed with unique programmatic character. These sections are seamlessly woven together by a continuous network of water features, paths, and promenades. Furthermore, each area is designed to strengthen ties with its immediate neighborhood or to emerge as a landmark, aligning with Seoul's broader future plans. Our ultimate goal is to create a beloved public space—a healthy, meaningful, sustainable, and recreational park for all.
