Architecture Rooted in Nature
The Silver Grove is a landmark senior living residence designed to bridge the gap between urban vitality and the serene tranquility of the natural world. Situated in the heart of the city, the project redefines aging-in-place by replacing the traditional institutional feel with a "vertical forest" concept that prioritizes light, air, and organic form.
The Birch Facade: A Living Pattern
The building’s most striking feature is its high-performance exterior skin. Inspired by the textural verticality of birch trees, the facade utilizes a rhythmic pattern of slender, white structural elements. These "branches" serve a dual purpose: they provide an artistic signature that evokes a walk through a sun-drenched grove, while simultaneously offering privacy and solar shading for the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows behind them.
An Elevated Ground Experience
At street level, the building sheds its rigid urban footprint in favor of graceful, sweeping arches. This vaulted colonnade creates a porous transition between the public sidewalk and the private sanctuary within. By lifting the mass of the building on these sculptural forms, we’ve created a ground plane that feels light, inviting, and inherently connected to the community.
Sanctuary of Light and Wellness
Inside, the biophilic narrative continues. The soaring, double-height lobby and common areas feature:
- Warm Timber Vaults: Dramatic wooden ceiling ribs that mirror the exterior arches, creating a sense of rhythmic calm.
- Reflective Water Elements: Indoor reflecting pools that use light and sound to lower cortisol and encourage mindfulness.
- The Sunlit Atrium: A central vertical garden that brings actual birch trees and natural sky-lighting into the core of the building, ensuring every resident has access to greenery, regardless of the season.
A New Vision for Senior Life
The Silver Grove isn't just a place to reside; it is an environment designed to stimulate the senses and soothe the spirit. By weaving the DNA of the forest into the fabric of the city, we provide seniors with a home that honors their need for both social connection and peaceful reflection.
